Who we are
CarCoverCompass ("CarCoverCompass," "we," "us" or "our") operates the website located at carcovercompass.com and any related pages, forms and services (collectively, the "Site" or "Services"). CarCoverCompass is a free consumer referral and comparison service that helps consumers in the United States learn about car insurance and connect with insurance providers. We are not an insurance company, agency or broker.
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information we collect through the Site and through our communications with you. It does not apply to information collected by third parties, including insurance providers you choose to work with, whose practices are governed by their own privacy policies.
By using the Site, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Site.
Information we collect
Information you provide to us
When you use our quote request form, contact us or submit a privacy request, you may provide:
- Identifiers and contact details: first and last name, email address, telephone number and ZIP code.
- Insurance profile information: whether you are currently insured, the number of vehicles you want to insure, vehicle model year, the age range of the primary driver, whether you own or rent your home, and whether you have had accidents, tickets or claims in recent years.
- Communications: the content of messages you send us and records of your consent to be contacted, including the date, time and wording of the consent you provided.
Some information you provide, such as information about your age range or driving history, may be considered sensitive or characteristic of a protected classification under certain laws. We use it only to provide the Services you request.
Information we collect automatically
When you visit the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect:
- Device and usage information: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, referring and exit pages, pages viewed, time spent on pages, links clicked and the date and time of your visit.
- Approximate location: general geographic location derived from your IP address or ZIP code. We do not collect precise geolocation.
- Form interaction data: information about how you interact with our forms, which may be used to verify consent, prevent fraud and improve the user experience.

Information from other sources
We may receive information about you from third parties, such as marketing and advertising partners, data verification and anti-fraud providers, and publicly available sources. - To provide the Services, including processing your request and matching you with insurance providers that may be able to offer you coverage.
- To share your information with insurance providers and marketing partners, as described below, so they can contact you about insurance products in accordance with your consent.
- To contact you by phone, text message or email about your request and related products and services, where permitted by law and consistent with your consent.
- To respond to your questions, requests and complaints.
- To verify the accuracy of information, detect and prevent fraud, spam, abuse and security incidents, and protect the rights and safety of you, us and others.
- To maintain records of consent and comply with legal obligations, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the CAN-SPAM Act and state privacy and insurance laws.
- To analyze and improve the Site, our forms and our Services, and to develop new features.
- To advertise and market our Services, including measuring the effectiveness of our advertising.
- For any other purpose disclosed to you at the time we collect your information, or with your consent.
How we share your information
We may share personal information with the following categories of recipients:
- Insurance providers and marketing partners: licensed insurance carriers, agents, brokers, lead aggregators and other marketing partners that may offer you insurance quotes or products. When you submit your request and provide consent, we may share your information with one or more of these partners, who may contact you directly. These partners use your information in accordance with their own privacy policies.
- Service providers: companies that perform services on our behalf, such as website hosting, data storage, analytics, customer support, email and SMS delivery, consent verification and fraud prevention. These providers may use your information only as necessary to perform services for us.
- Advertising and analytics partners: partners that help us understand Site usage and deliver and measure advertising, which may collect information through cookies and similar technologies.
- Legal and safety: government authorities, regulators, courts or other parties when we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation or legal process, or is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of CarCoverCompass, our users or others.
- Business transfers: a buyer, successor or other party in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy or sale of all or part of our business or assets.
- With your consent: other third parties when you direct us or give us permission to do so.
Sharing your information with insurance providers and marketing partners in exchange for compensation may be considered a "sale" of personal information, and sharing information for cross-context behavioral advertising may be considered "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under certain state privacy laws. Communications and your consent
If you provide your phone number and agree to be contacted, CarCoverCompass and our marketing partners may call you or send you text messages about insurance products, including through automated technology or prerecorded or artificial voice messages, as described in our Consent to Contact disclosure. Your consent is not a condition of any purchase.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by replying STOP to any text message, by telling the caller you no longer wish to be contacted, or by emailing [email protected]. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link in any email. Please note that partners who have already received your information maintain their own contact lists, so you may need to opt out with them directly as well.
Cookies and tracking technologies
We and our partners use cookies, pixels, local storage and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your preferences, analyze traffic and measure advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings and through our cookie banner. For more information, see our Cookie Policy.
Global Privacy Control. Where required by applicable law, we treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal sent by your browser as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information associated with that browser.
Do Not Track. Because there is no common industry standard for responding to "Do Not Track" browser signals, the Site does not currently respond to them, except as described above for GPC.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information, subject to certain exceptions:
- Right to know / access: to confirm whether we process your personal information and to request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
- Right to delete: to request deletion of personal information we have collected from you.

- Right to appeal: if we decline to act on your request, you may appeal our decision by replying to our response or emailing us with the subject line "Privacy Appeal." If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state Attorney General.
These rights are provided under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA), and comprehensive privacy laws in states including Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Virginia, as each may apply.

We will need to verify your identity before responding to requests to know, delete or correct, which typically involves matching information you provide with information in our records. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf; we may require the agent to provide proof of authorization and may ask you to verify your identity directly. We will respond within the time required by applicable law, generally within 45 days, which may be extended where permitted.

We collect this information from you, from your device, and from the third-party sources described above, for the purposes described in the "How we use your information" section. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than those permitted by Cal. Code Regs. tit. 11, § 7027(m). We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
Notice of financial incentive. We do not offer financial incentives in exchange for your personal information.

Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the Services, maintain records of consent, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements and comply with our legal obligations. Consent records may be retained for at least five years in light of the statute of limitations applicable to TCPA claims. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption of data in transit. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your devices and accounts secure.
Children's privacy
The Site is intended for adults aged 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable). If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Third-party links and services
The Site may contain links to websites or services operated by third parties, including insurance providers. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third party before providing personal information to them.
Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act notice
Insurance providers you are connected with may be subject to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and state insurance privacy laws, and will provide you with their own privacy notices describing how they handle your nonpublic personal information.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where required by law, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Site after any changes become effective constitutes your acknowledgment of the updated Privacy Policy.
